Sweet Soy Boiled Octopus
Do you eat octopus? It’s popular as sushi and Takoyaki in Japan. This one is a traditional and easy recipe.
- octopus (frozen) 200 g
- soy sauce 2 tablespoon
- brown sugar 2 tablespoon
- water 150 mL
- Unfreeze octopus and cut to small chunk.
- Put all seasonings in a pot and heat with middle heat.
- When it starts boiling, add octopus and boil for 5 minutes.
- Let it cool down and it’s ready.
Is octopus popular in your country? In Japan, we eat octopus often. It is popular as sushi, Takoyaki, salad and so on. This is a traditional and easy recipe for octopus. I strongly recommend using frozen octopus for this recipe. The texture is important. We have saying that “hit as an octopus”. Some origins explain the saying so that we need to hit octopus a lot before cooking to make it soft. If you use frozen octopus, you don’t need to hit it.
