Spicy Fried Pork, Vermicelli and Vege with Sriracha Sauce

ad

Sriracha sauce has a spicy and sour taste. When we heat it up, only the spicy taste is left. For Chinese cuisine, we use Doubanjiang for spicy taste. It’s spicy and nice, but how often do we need it?

I brought Doubanjiang from Japan, but it’s still in my fridge. I don’t want to keep too many seasonings in my fridge just to have a collection of exotic sauces. So Sriracha, useful as it is for many things, is one option to use instead of Doubanjiang.

INGREDIENTS
  • minced pork 200 g
  • Chinese cabbage 150 g
  • eggplant 150 g
  • spring onion 50 g
  • garlic (1 clove) 5 g
  • vermicelli (dried) 50 g
  • sesame oil 1 tsp
  • Sriracha sauce 2 Tbsp
  • soy sauce 2 Tbsp
INSTRUCTIONS
  • Pour boiling water in the bowl with vermicelli. Let it become soft.
  • Squeeze vermicelli to remove water, then cut to eatable length with scissors.
  • Cut Chinese cabbage, eggplant and spring onion to 5cm*1cm pieces, and chop garlic.
  • Put sesame oil and garlic on the pan, then heat with strong middle heat.
  • When the pan has warmed up, add minced pork and fry.
  • Add vegetables and vermicelli, then fry some more. Don’t fry too long. It’s okay that the vegetables are still a little crunchy.
